One year the was “New Places.” That year they wanted to focus on travel and trying new things. The word for that year was “Untried.” And the goal was to take more trips to places where they had not already been. This got them out of the “same old restaurants” rut as they branched out. They took a vacation to a place that neither of them had been. That year they were always looking for new, untried things places to shop, to visit, to try out.
Another year was “In Health.” While they understood how important it was for them to be supportive in sickness, they found that they were not always as supportive of each other’s attempts to be healthier. They tried different kinds of exercise routines, finding out what worked for them individually and things they could enjoy together. They vowed not to buy each other sweets and to help each other make better meal choices. They each made an individual goal for the end of the year and their joint goal was to help the other one reach that goal. By the end of the year one had control of his blood sugar and the other had run her first 5K race.
Why not skip the resolutions and see if you can’t come up with a theme, a word and a goal as a couple for 2017?
May 2017 be a adventure for you.
